Google Drawings – The Visio Rival?
I just discovered Google Drawings and at first glance it looks pretty cool! I spend my days drawing technical drawings in Microsoft Visio, but it can be very clunky and not really conducive to collaboration.
Google Drawings is part of the Google Docs suite of apps and I really think this is going to be a winner, especially when / if they add stencils.
Innovation takes practice
Like pretty much everything in life, innovation takes practice.
There seems to be a misconception out there that people stumble upon ideas and which just take off. I’m afraid it just doesn’t work like that.
So called “Inventors” invent a lot of things before they hit the big one and with each invention that fails, they learn. I love the saying: “You need to have a hook in the water to catch the fish.” So when you come up with an idea, try it, because if you don’t someone else will and they will at least learn something from it putting them one step ahead of you.
The difference between those that come up with a great invention and those that don’t is sheer determination, learning along the way, and bouncing back after failure.
Everything else is secondary!
Oh and you must be having fun!
Office in a Blog
Gone are the days of needing physical equipment to make business work! Each hour that passes some other part of our physical world moves into the so called cloud and its just getting simpler and simpler!
This is absolutely great whether you are a startup or a government institution.
Google Chrome – Tab Sync
Google recently added a very cool feature to my favourite web browser – Google Chrome – called Tab Sync. Leveraging the Chrome Sign In functionality which already syncs your bookmarks, settings, extensions and so on between multiple devices, you can now sync your open Tabs across multiple devices including your Android phone.

Incremental Product Development v.s. Golf
Incremental product development can be best described by comparing it to a round of golf. In golf, all players have a rough idea of what the course looks like, they have 18 intermediate goals, and they know what the ultimate goal is.
Knowing these rules, the player starts off on the tee box and play their first shot which may turn out as planned or not. If has gone well, the player’s ball will be lying in a great position for the next shot (unless it was a hole-in-one off course).
